2023.03.15_Create and Edit Quick Spec OptionQuick Spec’s latest enhancement is an option to now create and edit right away. Before submitting the Quick Spec, right-aligned within the button, you will see see a dropdown to switch between Create Quick Spec or Create and Edit Quick Spec. Whichever option you last selected will become your default for your next Quick Spec.

2023.01.19_Copy a spec MULTIPLE times!There’s now another option to copy specs into the current Project: copy a spec MULTIPLE times! Select the spec you want and choose the number of copies. There’s even an option to modify the Code/tag (and re-assign the Areas/Types if you’re using Spaces) of the copies before hitting submit. Learn more about copying specs here.

2023.01.06_PDF ManualsManuals take exports to a new level. In a nutshell, now you can consolidate various exports into one PDF with a table of contents, page numbering and so much more. 2022.11.16_DPSync version 5.1.98 is now available!This is another large update that includes a number of fixes and new features. Updated User Interface for the "Products" and "Materials" sync tabs. Enhanced error reporting when syncing product quantities by Room. You can now sync quantities by Spaces (i.e. Areas/Types) in addition to syncing by Room; learn more here. 2022.10.24_Add Attributes and Nested Specs in Spec InstancesEven among standardized projects, users may need to “fine tune” individual spec instances to meet project goals. Now, users are able to add project-related attributes and nest project-related specs within a spec instance. The feature also eliminates the possibility of confusion between specs made in Standards and changes made to an individual spec instance for a specific project: while working within the project, all Attributes and Nested specs that have been assigned in the Standards spec display as read-only fields.

2022.10.20_Export Log Streamlines Report RequestsOur latest feature, Export Log, helps users monitor the status of report requests in Projects. The new feature provides a time log of each report request from when the initial request is made until the report is delivered. In addition to providing real time information on report delivery status, Export Log tracks which reports have been generated and which are in progress. By providing time of request and time of completion for each report, Export Log reduces export request repetitions, thus increasing efficiency.

2022.10.06_Bulk Create Areas and Types in the Spaces sectionWe’ve expanded the capabilities of the Spaces section with a new option to import data for Area Type/Hierarchy from .csv files. Note that .csv files must contain proscribed columns and each row must have an entry for every column. See an example here (link). Importing .csv files will not displace previous information from the Spaces section, so you may bulk create Areas and Types for your Projects as much as you wish.

2022.08.12_"Defined Nested" Is Now the DefaultNested Specs is a very powerful feature. There's always been two options: Defined Nested and Undefined Nested. Since first launching Nested Specs, Undefined Nested was the default. To be honest, the reason for this is simply that Undefined Nested was the initial methodoloy and we launched Defined Nested a year or two later. That said, we've always encouraged users to utilize the Defined methodology. Today, after careful consideration, we've decided it should likewise be the default option.

2022.06.24_Project Page CleanupOn the coattails of our launching Standards, we've subtly modified the design of the Project Page. The most meaningful difference is that "Edit", "Quick Edit", "General Notes" and "Delete" buttons per spec have been consolidated into a single dropdown per spec.

2022.06.10_Announcing “Standards”, an exciting new feature to help restructure and manage recurring specifications.For designers or firms working on multiple projects that have the same specifications, “Standards” folders will let you specify items that will be consistent across various projects. Though there are a number of applications, here’s one of the most likely examples. Imagine you’re working on a hospitality chain with multiple locations. Obviously, most of the specifications will repeat from project to project. This feature will let you build out entire specification packages in one “Standards” folder which you can then copy into projects as linked specifications corresponding to each location.

2022.05.12_“Submission Dates” to Replace “Spec Dates” (and Product / Project Status)After surveying the vast majority of our subscribers, we’ve decided to refined this feature, starting with the new name. The “Submission Dates” feature lets you: create new submission dates reduce the risk of creating duplicate submission dates by accident assign submission dates in bulk to products in your project assign submission dates to a specific product in your project (one at at time) remove submission dates that are no longer needed (inside individual Spec Submission Dates button) You can access this feature by mousing-over the Submission Dates button in the Action Bar at the top of the Project.

2022.04.18_Sub-folder filtering can be adapted to meet my project’s needs!To expand on the Sub-folder filters, you can now adjust the logic to be AND vs OR. If you go to the Project Settings tab, under the Filter Settings section, you’ll find the toggle button to edit this setting. This toggle is OFF by default. In the OFF setting, the “OR” logic is being used; when the toggle is ON, the “AND” logic is being used.

2022.03.14_When creating a Project, you'll have to decide how to “Manage Quantities & Locations”Designer Pages offers two different ways of managing quantities for products. Each one fulfills different needs that a Project may have. If you’re interested in entering quantities of products inside individual Rooms, then you should choose “Manage Quantities with Rooms”. The Quick Edit button is located right beside the Edit spec button, and will help you zip through edits to the Specification Display Name, Code/Tag, CSI Category and Attributes.
