Can I search for products using visual traits or images?

Sometimes you know what a product looks like before you know what it’s called. Designer Pages lets you search for products using visual traits or an image, giving you another way to find what you’re looking for without starting with a product name, manufacturer, or category.

You can describe the characteristics of a product, upload an image, or provide an image URL. Designer Pages then searches for products with similar visual characteristics.

This visual search is powered by PixelSeek, which uses AI to analyze your description or image and identify relevant product matches.

How do I start a visual search?

Click the visual search icon on the right side of the main Designer Pages search bar.

You can continue by describing what you're looking for directly in the search bar, or select Start From an Image to search with an image instead.

How do I search by visual traits?

Enter a description of the product's appearance directly into the search bar.

Rather than needing the exact product name or manufacturer, describe the characteristics you can see. For example:

  • chrome sled base, wood arms
  • low lounge chair with curved upholstered back
  • round pedestal table with white stone top
  • orange sofa with exposed metal legs

You can include details such as shape, material, color, upholstery, base style, arms, legs, finish, or other distinguishing features.

The search uses those visual traits to find products that most closely correspond with your description.

How do I search using an image?

If you already have an image of what you're looking for, click the visual search icon and either upload and image or paste an Image URL in the corresponding field.

After adding your image, click Analyze Image.

The image is analyzed for its visual characteristics and compared against the products available in the visual search collection. This makes it useful when you have an inspiration image, reference photo, or an unidentified product and want to find products with a similar appearance.

Can I find products similar to a spec already in my project?

Yes! You can also start a Visual Search directly from a spec on your Project page.

Mouse over the spec image and click the Find Similar icon. Designer Pages uses that spec image as the visual reference and displays products with similar visual characteristics.

Each result includes the product image, product name, manufacturer, and similarity score. Click View Details to take a closer look at a matching product.

This is a quick way to explore alternatives when you already have a product in your project and want to see what else looks similar.

Does this replace regular product search?

No. Visual search is an additional way to search Designer Pages.

Regular search remains available when you know the product, manufacturer, category, or terminology you want to use. Visual search is particularly helpful when you can describe or show what you're looking for but don't know exactly what to call it.

Visual search is currently in beta and searches a curated collection of 1,000 products.
