Changing a spec’s category or Spec Template no longer has to mean choosing between starting over and keeping everything exactly as-is.
We’ve added a new Keep Matching option that lets you load a new Spec Template while carrying over values from attributes the old and new templates have in common. This makes it much easier to switch templates without re-entering information you’ve already specified.
🔄 Choose What Happens to Your Attributes
When you change the category and Spec Template assigned to a spec, you’ll now have three options:
- Rload Template + keep matching values - Compares your existing attributes with the new template and automatically transfers values for any matches. Non-matching attributes are removed, while new attributes remain empty or use their predefined template values.
- Rload Template + clear values - The existing attributes and their entered values are removed, and the attributes from the new template are loaded in their place. No values from the previous spec are carried over.
- Keep current attributes – Changes the spec’s category while keeping all current attributes and values unchanged. The new category’s Spec Template is not loaded, so no attributes are added, removed, or replaced.
And, of course, Cancel gets you out without making any changes.
✨ How “Keep Matching” Works
Select Keep Matching and Designer Pages will compare your existing attributes with those in the new Spec Template.
When an attribute exists in both, your existing value comes along for the ride. Attributes that aren’t part of the new template are removed, while new attributes without a match remain empty or use the values predefined by the template.

That means less retyping, fewer lost details, and a much smoother way to reorganize specs as your project evolves.
New template, same good data.
